In the two days of 29/8/2017 – 30/8/2017, in Ho Chi Minh City, the third conference of senior officials of APEC (SOM 3) took place. Nearly 200 delegates, including senior officials from 21 members of economies, representatives from the ASEAN Secretariat, Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (PECC), The APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC)…attended the conference.

At the conference, APEC President APEC 2017, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son emphasized that over 200 meetings at all levels from early this year, APEC cooperation has achieved positive results. Highlights are the commitment to continue to promote trade, investment liberalization and inclusive growth of trade ministers.

The conference spent a lot of time for discussing the issues of economic, financial and social development. APEC members affirmed their determination to continue to bring the forum’s cooperation tied to the interests and the practical benefits of each economy, each community of people and businesses.

Another important aspect of SOM 3 is the implementation of the Bogor Goals on trade and investment liberalization, sharing of experience and capacity building for members, especially developing members, in the negotiation, signing and implementation of RTAs / FTAs.

With the hosting of SOM 3 and related meetings, Vietnam continues to affirm the policy of international integration deepens and attaches importance to the Asia-Pacific region, including regional cooperation mechanisms such as APEC.
